Services
Airtime Distribution:
Operators and service providers using the TRIV Platform™ can create and manage digital distribution networks with multiple hierarchies. Viral person-to-person transfer, super distribution, agent commissioning and transaction tracking are all supported by a field-proven sophisticated set of applications. Airtime agents, using their mobile devices as points-of-sale, can Top-up subscriber accounts in real time, without the need to purchase, stock or distribute any physical cards. Each subscriber can also become an airtime sub-distributor with a click of a button. Cash-based prepaid users can immediately Top-up their prepaid mobile phone regardless to their location, with any amount, without the need to scratch cards or deal with vouchers and pin codes. They can also easily and intuitively transfer any amount to their families, friends and employees, thus keeping their kids, workers and relatives with positive airtime balance at all times.
Distribution of Pre-payment for Services:
Just like in the case of Airtime Distribution, operators and service providers can use the TRIV Platform™ to distribute pre-payments for any other services. Calling cards, gift cards, pre-paid cable TV cards and pre-paid gasoline cards can all be distributed and managed without any physical card being involved. Loyalty cards for merchant networks complement other commerce services powered by STM.
Electronic Self Top-up:
Complementary to airtime distribution, which is very useful in cash-based economies, users may also recharge their pre-paid telecom accounts using a variety of payment methods, such as from their bank account, their credit card, or using an ATM. Airtime recharged using this method can then be consumed or further distributed e.g. to relatives and friends.
Remittance & Person-to-Person Payments:
STM enables operators and service providers to offer cost-effective, secure and real-time fund transfers between their subscribers. Each user is automatically assigned with a STM Stored Value Account (SVA), allowing funds to be flexibly and easily transferred to others. In a world where hundreds of billions of dollars transferred annually are plagued by inefficient and costly fund-transfer methods, the STM remittance solution is a revolution. With STM, migrant workers can send money back home instantly and without losing a high percentage of their wages on transfer fees. Tenants can transfer rent payments to their landlords, parents can transfer funds to their children studying far away, and peers can share their bills or repay their debts – all with a click of a handset button. To load their SVA, users may receive balance transferred from other users, or from a distributor in exchange for cash. They may also load their SVA using any payment method such as a bank account or credit card. To cash their SVA balance out, users may access any STM-enabled point of sale.
Micro Financing:
Economic development in many developing countries depends very much on the ability of micro-entrepreneurs to access financing. However, such people may not even have a bank account. Moreover, micro financing is generally constrained by the high costs of processing such small amounts and delivering them to remote rural areas, let alone the lack of information about the borrowers themselves. With STM, entrepreneurs in developing countries have an equal opportunity to access financing. Using their mobile phone, they can obtain and repay micro-loans. Funds remitted as part of a micro-financing program can be further distributed or cashed out at any STM enabled cash-out post.
Prepaid Cards:
Subscribers, who have a STM Stored Value Account (SVA) and would like to use their SVA balance at virtually any point of sale worldwide, or to cash out their SVA balance anywhere in the world, may obtain a STM co-branded prepaid international card associated with one of the leading credit card companies such as MasterCard. Complementary to the mobile phone, this card can be used just like any other worldwide debit card. Users can move balance from their SVA to their STM card and use it to purchase goods at any point of sale supporting e.g. Mastercard. This STM card can also be used to withdraw cash at ATMs. Just like the SVA, the prepaid card can be topped-up using cash at any STM-enabled point of sale, or by the subscriber alone using the phone and an underlying payment method.
Bill Payment:
Using their STM SVA to pay bills allows consumers to avoid queuing, sending checks or paying extra fees. With STM, users can pay their bills anywhere anytime with a click of a button. Upon bill payment, the user will receive a payment confirmation that includes all relevant transaction information and that can later be used for tracing and clarifications. Typical use cases include payment of utility bills, telecom bills, municipality and government bills and payments for other services.
Mobile Content Purchasing:
The consumption of mobile content is often limited to on-portal content alone because of payment issues. Users are sometimes reluctant to use their credit cards in association with their phones, or do not have a credit card in the first place. With STM, users can purchase content with a click of a button from any content provider / aggregator connected to the TRIV Platform™. Content can be paid for using the STM Stored Value Account (SVA), or any other pre-defined payment method.
Ticketing:
With STM, users can easily purchase tickets anywhere, anytime with a click of a button. Typical use cases include lottery tickets, movies and entertainment tickets, and travel tickets such as bus, train or flight tickets.
Parking:
STM enables municipalities and private parking vendors to sell parking services without stocking and tracking physical tickets, handling cash money or deploying staff and expensive machinery. Users can easily pay for their parking with no need to worry about change money, vouchers, receipts or fines.
Tangible Goods Purchasing:
STM allows mobile users to perform a wide variety of purchase and commercial transactions, both on and off portal, with or without association to a point of sale, anywhere, anytime and using any amount. Users may pay for goods which are immediately delivered to them, by transferring funds to the vendor. Vending machines powered by STM allow users to consume goods without carrying around cash. Moreover, users may order goods such as books or a pizza - in which case payment is deferred to the time of delivery.
NFC:
During the recent years, Near Field Communication (NFC) has emerged as a standard for contactless payment by smartcards and mobile phones. STM supports NFC as yet another access method to perform all types of payment and commerce transactions. With STM, all NFC and non-NFC transactions can be done in just the same manner and using the same framework. NFC transactions may be performed over any payment method, such as bank account, credit/debit card, telecom account, or a STM Stored Value Account (SVA). Such transactions may be managed and tracked with STM’s rich set of online management tools. STM allows information to be offloaded from the NFC chip, requiring less maintenance and enhancing security. STM further enhances NFC security by allowing additional identification and authentication in case of malfunction.
